Z Plus Security The Highest Level of Protection in India

Hey folks! Have you ever wondered what Z Plus security means and who gets it? Z Plus security is one of the highest levels of security provided to individuals in India. It’s given to people facing significant threats, such as top government officials and prominent political leaders. Let's dive into what makes Z Plus security so special and how it ensures safety.

How is Security Level Decided?

There are various levels of security, including X, Y, Z, and Z+ (Z Plus), with Z Plus being the highest. The decision on which security level to provide is made by the Ministry of Home Affairs. They base this decision on inputs from different sources. A special committee with the Ministry of Home Affairs reviews these inputs to either increase or decrease the level of security. Sometimes, individuals request enhanced security, but the final decision is made after consultations between the central and state governments.

Z Plus Security: How Many Guards?

Z Plus security is very crucial. It involves 55 armed personnel providing round-the-clock protection. These guards are from the National Security Guard (NSG), also known as Black Cats. They accompany the VIP from their home to their office and everywhere in between. NSG commandos are highly trained in martial arts and unarmed combat. Their training is rigorous, ensuring they can neutralize threats in seconds. Around 40 VVIPs in India, including Home Minister Amit Shah, UP CM Yogi Adityanath, and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, receive Z Plus security.

Security for the Prime Minister and President

The Prime Minister’s security is managed by the Special Protection Group (SPG), led by a Director-General rank officer from the Indian Police. The SPG’s headquarters are in Delhi. This group was formed in 1984 after the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The SPG Act was enacted in 1988, ensuring dedicated security for the Prime Minister. Currently, only the Prime Minister receives SPG protection due to amendments made by the Modi government.

The President of India, holding the highest constitutional office, has security managed by the Indian Army. The President is the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and thus, their security is handled by a special regiment known as the President’s Bodyguards (PBG).
