Will UK Offer Asylum to Sheikh Hasina? Until Then, India Provides a Safe Haven 🇧🇩

In light of the recent political turmoil in Bangladesh, the United Kingdom has issued a response. With violent incidents and loss of life occurring over the past two weeks, Britain has called for a United Nations-led investigation into the events. The UK Foreign Secretary released an official statement urging everyone to cooperate for a peaceful transition of government. However, there was no mention of providing asylum to Sheikh Hasina.

Meanwhile, India's security forces are closely monitoring the Bangladesh airspace using Rafael fighter jets. On Monday, around 3 PM, a plane was detected approaching Indian airspace. Security officials, having prior knowledge of the flight's passengers, permitted it to enter India. Rafael fighter jets from the Hasimara airbase in Bangladesh were dispatched to escort the plane carrying Sheikh Hasina, providing protection as it flew over Bihar and Jharkhand.

Sheikh Hasina's plane landed at the Hindon Air Base in Ghaziabad at 5:45 PM. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval welcomed her, engaging in an hour-long discussion regarding the current situation in Bangladesh and potential future actions. Following the meeting, Ajit Doval briefed the Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Modi, about the situation.

An all-party meeting is scheduled for today in Delhi to discuss the Bangladesh crisis. Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar is expected to provide further details after the meeting.
