Hanuman's boundless devotion to Lord Rama is well-known, but there was a time when Rama sentenced him to death. During a gathering in Ayodhya with sage Narada, Vashishta, and Vishwamitra, a debate arose about the power of Rama's name versus Rama himself. Narada asserted that the name of Rama was more powerful than Rama, and he decided to prove it.
However, Hanuman, in showing respect to all sages except Vishwamitra, inadvertently angered him. Vishwamitra, feeling slighted, demanded that Rama sentence Hanuman to death. As Vishwamitra was also Rama’s guru, Rama could not refuse his request and reluctantly sentenced Hanuman to death. Confused about why Rama would want to kill him, Hanuman was advised by Narada to continuously chant Rama's name.
As Rama launched arrows at him, not a single one could touch Hanuman because he was chanting Rama’s name. Realizing this, Rama stopped shooting, proving that indeed, Rama's name holds divine protection and is more powerful than any physical force, highlighting the profound impact of faith and devotion.
