This tradition or custom of ringing the bell while entering the temple is centuries old, but many people also ring the bell while coming out of the temple. This is considered wrong according to Vastu Shastra. You will often see many people ringing the bell while coming out of the temple. Ringing the bell while leaving the temple is considered wrong. According to Vastu Shastra one should not ring the bell while leaving the temple as by doing so the positive energy of the temple will be left behind. So the bell should not be rung while coming out of the temple.
