Wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who was disqualified for being overweight in the 53 kg freestyle wrestling final at the Paris Olympics, has expressed her anger over a photo shared by Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha. After feeling unwell, Vinesh was treated at the clinic in the Olympic Village. During that time, PT Usha visited her and a photo of their meeting was released. Vinesh accused PT Usha of taking a photo without her knowledge and politicizing the issue. She criticized PT Usha's actions, saying that the photo was shared on social media without her consent.
Vinesh stated that she did not receive any real support from PT Usha. In an interview with a local news channel, she explained how PT Usha met her at the hospital, clicked a photo, and shared it, adding that there’s a lot happening behind the scenes in politics. She also mentioned that politics is everywhere, even in Paris, which broke her heart. She said many people urged her not to quit wrestling, but wherever she goes, politics is present.
Vinesh criticized PT Usha's way of sharing the photo on social media, claiming it was not the right way to show support. She mentioned that it looked more like acting rather than genuine support.
