Vijay Deverakonda's "Family Star" - A Mixed Bag of Laughs and Misses

Vijay Deverakonda has become the heartthrob of the youth with every film of his resonating with their thoughts and ideologies. His attitude and mannerisms have won over many, making him a sensation in Tollywood in no time. His latest outing, "Family Star", comes in collaboration with director Parasuram after the massive hit "Geetha Govindam". The film had a grand release today, on April 5th. Let’s dive into how it fared.

"Family Star" started off with a below-average first half, sprinkled with some okay-ish comedic scenes but largely failed to grab attention. The first half notably lacked any impactful scenes that would remind one of TV serial drama, which is a plus. However, the fun scenes in the beginning of the second half quickly gave way to a series of uninteresting sequences. The music also didn’t do much to lift the spirits. It seems the magical combo of Vijay and Parasuram from "Geetha Govindam" couldn’t recreate their previous success this time around.

The chemistry between Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur was decent, but director Parasuram seemed confused about what he wanted to convey through the movie. This film is not your typical commercial or mass movie; it’s more of a family entertainer that you would enjoy more with your loved ones. The movie will likely break even, but it's time for Vijay Deverakonda to step out of his comfort zone. His mannerisms are becoming repetitive, and it’s high time he picks some good scripts. 🎥✨
