In a heart-wrenching incident in Chennai, a young man named Hemachandran, aged 26, tragically lost his life during a weight loss surgery. Hemachandran, who weighed 150 kilograms, had decided to undergo this surgery after trying various other methods to lose weight, including diet changes and physical exercises. He initially found hospitals offering the surgery at prices ranging from ₹4 lakhs to ₹8 lakhs, and eventually opted for a facility in Pammal, Chennai, that quoted ₹4 lakhs.
The fateful day was April 22, when the surgery began at 9:30 AM. Unfortunately, during the procedure, Hemachandran suddenly fell critically ill. Despite immediate efforts to transfer him to another hospital, he succumbed to a heart attack. This devastating event has left his family grief-stricken and demanding strict action against the hospital, alleging negligence. They have filed a complaint at the Shankarnagar police station, seeking justice for Hemachandran.
