#TragicIncident | Maoists Kill Student Suspected of Being a Police Informer

In a shocking incident in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, a 16-year-old student named Shankar was brutally beaten to death by Maoists on suspicion of being a police informer. Shankar, who was studying at a government school in Palnar, Dantewada district, had returned to his native village, Puvarti, due to a family tragedy.

Shankar had come home after the death of a female relative a week ago. However, the Maoists suspected him of being an informer and targeted him. On Tuesday night, they beat him to death. Upon receiving the information, police reached the scene and transferred Shankar’s body to a government hospital for a postmortem. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.

This tragic incident follows the murder of Shankar's elder brother, 19-year-old Soyam Sitaram, who was also killed by Maoists a week earlier. Fearful of the Maoists, the family quietly conducted the funeral without informing the police and later fled the village.
