There’s buzz that Lucknow Super Giants are keen on offering a whopping ₹50 crore package to Rohit Sharma if he enters the auction. However, in a recent interview, Lucknow team owner Sanjiv Goenka addressed these rumors and provided clarity. He questioned, “Have you ever seen Rohit Sharma go to the auction? Rumors spread without any basis.”
Goenka further added that it’s uncertain whether Mumbai Indians will release Rohit Sharma or if he will even be available for the auction. He pointed out the practical difficulties of managing the budget, saying, “Even if Rohit comes to the auction and we buy him with 50% of our salary cap, how will we manage the rest of the players?”
He acknowledged that every team wants the best captain, but it’s important to understand what you have and what is available to you. "Just like I want everything, so do the other franchises, but not everyone can get what they want,” said Sanjiv Goenka, stressing the realities of team management and budget constraints.
