Hyderabad, a city in Telangana State, has won five 'Green Apple Awards' in the 'International Beautiful Buildings Green Apple Awards' organized by 'The Green Organization', a non-profit based in London. These awards recognize outstanding achievements in the urban and real estate sectors.
Telangana State received the awards for various buildings: MozZamJahi Market for its excellent restoration and reuse (heritage category), Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge for its unique design (bridge category), Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat Building for its aesthetically designed office/workspace (building category), Integrated Command Control Centre of the State Police for its unique office setup, and Yadagirigutta Temple for its excellent religious structure.The Green Organization, established in London in 1994, aims to acknowledge and promote environmental best practices worldwide. This is the first time that any building or structure from India has received the prestigious Green Apple awards, and Telangana is honored to receive all five awards.The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 16 in London. Arvind Kumar, the Special Chief Secretary of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department, has been appointed by the State Government to receive the awards on behalf of Telangana. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao expressed his joy at the state receiving five awards in different categories, particularly because this is the first time Indian buildings have been recognized with these awards. He said this achievement highlights the forward-thinking approach to architectural design and will greatly benefit the real estate sector in Hyderabad and Telangana.
