The Supreme Court has expressed concern over the increasing suicide of students in the country. The apex court opined that intense competition and parental pressure are the major causes of student deaths.
A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Monday on a petition filed seeking directions to regulate coaching centers. It was on this occasion that the court made these comments. A bench of Sanjeev Khanna and SVN Bhatti expressed hopelessness in regulating coaching centres. It said that in the current situation, the judiciary cannot issue orders to control the coaching centers. šļøš¤
Controlling coaching centers is not an easy matter, the Supreme Court opined that parental pressure is behind all such incidents. Many people want no coaching centers. Justice Sanjeev Khanna said that the conditions in the schools and the fierce competition there are the reasons why students are resorting to these coaching centers. About 8.2 percent of students commit suicide in the country. The petitioner's bench clarified that they are aware of the situation, but they cannot issue directions.
