The Telangana Wakf Board has opposed the Wakf Amendment Bill proposed by the BJP-led Central Government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. The board, led by Chairman Azmatullah Hussaini, stated that the bill would harm the interests of Wakf institutions. A meeting was held on Monday, attended by AIMIM leader and MP Asaduddin Owaisi, along with other board members. They decided to convey their objections to the Joint Working Committee set up for the bill's amendment. Owaisi also announced plans to meet with chairpersons and CEOs of Wakf boards from non-BJP states to discuss the issue. He expressed gratitude to Telangana CM Revanth Reddy for supporting the board's rejection of the bill.
