The Telangana government has issued guidelines for the Gruhalakshmi housing scheme, which aims to provide housing to women from marginalized communities.
Under this scheme, houses will be sanctioned in the names of women, and beneficiaries will be allowed to choose their own design for building the house. Each beneficiary will receive Rs 3 lakh to construct a two-room house with an RCC framed structure and a toilet. The houses will bear the approved Gruhalakshmi logo. To be eligible for the scheme, the beneficiary must have their own house site and possess a food security card. The list of beneficiaries in each assembly constituency should include percentage more than 20% for SCs, 10% for STs, 50% BCs, and minorities. The government has allocated a budget of Rs 12,000 crore for the scheme, aiming to construct 4 lakh houses in the financial year 2023-24. District Collectors and the GHMC Commissioner will be responsible for implementing the scheme in their respective areas.
