Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma recently shared his thoughts on the pivotal roles played by Rahul Dravid, Ajit Agarkar, and Jay Shah in India's T20 World Cup triumph. He described them as the three pillars who made the dream of lifting the ICC trophy a reality.
Speaking after being named the International Cricketer of the Year, Rohit emphasized that the team's success was not just about individual performances but about meticulous planning and the support he received from these key figures. "I didn't overthink about stats or results. We had a plan where everyone knew their role, and I got complete support from Jay Shah, Dravid, and Agarkar," he said.
Rohit also reflected on the long wait for an ICC trophy, acknowledging the emotional toll it took on the team. "For a decade, the unfulfilled dream of winning an ICC trophy weighed on us daily. But after the World Cup win, we wanted to savor every moment. The entire country celebrating with us is something I'll never forget," he added.
He also mentioned that he doesn't overthink his batting choices, saying, "If I feel good, I just play." With several key series coming up, Rohit is focused on maintaining the momentum from the World Cup victory.
In the same event, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Shami, and others were also recognized, with Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma receiving awards for their outstanding contributions.
