Stray Dogs Attack 24 People in an Hour: Alarming Rise in Hyderabad 🐕

Hyderabad's streets have become a source of fear as stray dog attacks rise. People are growing increasingly wary of stepping outside, fearing encounters with aggressive street dogs. In a shocking incident, stray dogs attacked about 24 people within just one hour in Balanagar. These attacks occurred in the Vinayak Nagar area, where stray dogs roamed freely, biting children and adults alike.

The victims ranged from children as young as one and a half years old to teenagers up to 16 years old. All were rushed to local hospitals for treatment. Stray dogs have targeted women, children, and the elderly walking along roads, causing panic and fear among residents. The situation is dire, with dogs attacking small children like wild beasts and even claiming young lives. Last month, in Miyapur, six-year-old Sathwik was killed by stray dogs. Recently, a pack of dogs attacked a woman walking in Chitrapuri Colony, injuring her.

Stray dog attacks are reported daily in Greater Hyderabad, with hundreds of cases emerging every day.

Rising Concerns in Hyderabad

Doctors have expressed concern that Nallakunta Fever Hospital receives over 2,000 dog bite victims monthly. Greater Hyderabad has five animal shelters, and officials estimate around 600,000 stray dogs in the GHMC area. In the past seven months, Nallakunta Fever Hospital has reported 18,618 dog bite cases.

Based on complaints received by the GHMC, approximately 40 to 50 stray dogs are captured daily and taken to animal care centers. After sterilization, the dog's right ear is cut in a V-shape, and each dog receives an anti-rabies vaccine, providing immunity for a year. Officials urge residents to report issues with stray dogs by calling 040-2311 1111.
