Tamil cinema’s superstar Vijay has officially stepped into the political arena, marking a significant moment in both his career and Tamil Nadu’s political landscape. The actor, known for his massive fan base, has launched his own political party named ‘Tamilaga Vetri Kalagam’. On Thursday, Vijay unveiled the party's flag and its agenda at the party office in Chennai, signaling his serious intentions in the political field.
Party Flag and Symbolism 🐘
Vijay hoisted the party flag, which is designed with red and yellow colors, featuring two elephants and a Vaagai flower in the center. The Vaagai tree, often seen along the roadsides, is considered a symbol of victory in Tamil culture. According to Tamil mythology, Goddess Parvati is said to have performed penance under the Vaagai tree before vanquishing the demon Mahishasura. The symbolism of victory is clearly reflected in the choice of the Vaagai flower on the party flag.
Party Anthem and Agenda 🎶
In a grand ceremony attended by his parents and numerous fans, Vijay also launched the party’s anthem, written by Vivek and composed by Thaman. The event was filled with enthusiasm as Vijay led the party workers in a pledge to fight against discrimination based on caste, religion, gender, and region. He emphasized the party's commitment to promoting equality and ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all.

Vijay’s entry into politics comes just ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled for next year. While he did not participate in the recent Lok Sabha elections, nor did he support any party, Vijay has made it clear that his focus is on the 2026 State Assembly elections.
