Shiv Dayal Singh Tomb: Agra's New Marble Wonder

Agra, the city known worldwide for the iconic Taj Mahal, has a new architectural marvel that's catching the eye of tourists and locals alike. The Taj Mahal, built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century, has long stood as a symbol of love. But now, just 12 kilometers away, a new attraction has emerged - the Shiv Dayal Singh Marble Tomb.

This impressive tomb is dedicated to Shiv Dayal Singh, the founder of the Radhasoami spiritual tradition. Located in the Swami Bagh Colony, this monument is already being compared to the Taj Mahal in terms of its grandeur and beauty. Locals believe that it will soon attract tourists from across India and around the world.

Interestingly, the construction of the Shiv Dayal Singh Tomb began over a century ago, in 1904. After facing numerous challenges and halts, the construction resumed in 1922 and has continued gradually ever since. Now, the tomb is in its final stages of completion, though it already draws many visitors.

Built using various architectural styles, the tomb reaches a height of 193 feet and is made from marble sourced from Makrana and Jodhpur in Rajasthan. The Radhasoami tradition, followed by millions in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Karnataka, and other regions, has made this tomb a significant site for its followers.

While some argue that the Shiv Dayal Singh Tomb is not a rival to the Taj Mahal, its increasing popularity suggests otherwise. As visitors flock to see this new wonder, it stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of Agra's historical and spiritual heritage.
