Senior editor P. Venkateswararao (72) breathed his last on Tuesday (June 20) in a private hospital in Chennai, where he had been undergoing treatment for several health issues. He passed away around 12 noon.
Along with working in Telugu cinema, Venkateswararao served as an editor for films in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages, contributing to around 200 movies in total. He was renowned for his collaboration with director K.S.R. Das, with whom he worked on numerous action films. He also edited several hit movies such as Yugandhar, Mondi Mogudu Penki Pellam, and Captain Krishna, among others. Venkateswararao had collaborated with prominent directors from Tamil Nadu, including former Chief Minister and DMK leader Karunanidhi, P. Vasu, Mangai Bharathi, Vaikai Nageshwar Rao, and Boyin Subba Rao.The demise of Venkateswararao has left the film industry and prominent personalities in a state of sorrow, which they expressed on social media platforms. He had lost his wife a few years ago, and he is survived by a son and two daughters. The last rites of Venkateswararao will take place in Chennai on Thursday (June 22), and his family members have requested the film fraternity to attend the funeral. Over the past few months, Tollywood has witnessed several unfortunate losses, including the demise of veteran actor K. Vishwanath, actress Jamuna, dubbing artist Srinivas Murthy, legendary playback singer Jaya Ram, and young hero Nandamuri Taraka Ratna, among others, who bid farewell to the mortal world and left a void in the industry.
