In a shocking turn of events, two individuals have been arrested in connection with the burning of government records in Vijayawada. The Penamaluru police have taken into custody Nagaraju and Ramarao for allegedly setting fire to documents on the Yanamalakuduru embankment.
Last night, numerous papers, hard disks, letterheads, and cassettes were found burnt, which the police have identified as belonging to the Mining and Pollution Departments. The suspects are being interrogated to understand the motive behind this act.
According to reports, Nagaraju, a driver, claimed they were acting on the orders of Pollution Control Board Chairman Sameer Sharma. Some of the burnt documents reportedly featured photos of former Minister Peddireddy and Sameer Sharma, raising further suspicion. The police are investigating why these documents were brought in an Innova and from where they were sourced.
