After a car accident two years ago and a comeback in limited-overs cricket last year, India's star wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has made a remarkable return to the Test squad after nearly 20 months. Pant has been selected for the first Test against Bangladesh, starting from September 19 in Chennai. The national selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, announced the 16-member squad under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma on Sunday.
Alongside Pant, Virat Kohli, who missed the five-match Test series against England earlier this year, will also rejoin the team. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is set to play in the Chennai Test following India's T20 World Cup victory. UP pacer Yash Dayal, who impressed in the Duleep Trophy, is the surprise package in the squad, while senior pacer Mohammed Shami missed out.
