Russian President Vladimir Putin has emphasized that India holds significant importance in Russia's diplomatic considerations, especially regarding the ongoing conflict with Ukraine. He mentioned that Russia respects India's views on the war and is in continuous communication with New Delhi on this issue. In a recent interview with a Russian agency, Putin acknowledged India's efforts to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict. He also noted that Russia is listening to the perspectives of two other countries besides India.
Putin's comments come after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to Ukraine, where he met with President Zelenskyy. The Russian leader stated that if Ukraine is genuinely interested in solving the conflict through dialogue, Russia is open to it. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov added that India is playing a crucial role in facilitating discussions between Russia and Ukraine. He highlighted the strong friendship between Modi and Putin and the possibility of India steering both the U.S. and Ukraine towards peace.
However, Peskov did not clarify whether Modi is ready to mediate the conflict. As India's global influence grows, many believe this could be a great opportunity for India to assert itself on the world stage and promote peace.
