Recent reports say that poverty has reduced drastically in the last 15 years. Together, it said that 41.5 crore people have been freed from the shackles of poverty in the last decade and a half.
The development and decisions taken by the governments since the British left have helped to bring the country out of poverty. In this regard, the United Nations has recently released a report. How many people have overcome the problem of poverty in India in the last 15 years? In these 15 years, 41.5 crore people have lifted their lives out of poverty. The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) jointly released the Global Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI). In this, 25 countries including India, China, Congo, Indonesia and Vietnam revealed that they have reduced their poverty by half. These statistics show confidence that we can make quick progress towards poverty eradication, one of the Sustainable Development Goals.
