🗳️PollingDay: 6th Phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Begins!


The 6th phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 started today (Saturday) at 7 AM, continuing until 6 PM. The Election Commission has made extensive arrangements to ensure smooth and peaceful voting across all polling stations. Voting is taking place in 58 constituencies across 6 states and 2 union territories, with 889 candidates in the fray.

In Bihar, 8 seats are up for grabs, Haryana has 10, Jammu & Kashmir has 1, Jharkhand has 4, Delhi has all 7 seats, Odisha has 6, Uttar Pradesh has 14, and West Bengal has 8 seats. A total of 111.3 million voters, including 58.4 million men, 52.9 million women, and 5,120 third-gender voters, are expected to exercise their franchise. Around 1.14 million polling staff are on duty to facilitate the voting process.

Notable candidates in this phase include former chief ministers Manohar Lal Khattar of BJP from Karnal and Mehbooba Mufti of PDP from Anantnag-Rajouri. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra, and former Union Minister Maneka Gandhi are also contesting.

Political parties like BJP, Congress, and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are vying to win as many seats as possible in this phase. Delhi’s 7 seats are a key focus, with Congress and AAP contesting jointly as part of the INDIA alliance. In Delhi, Congress is contesting 3 seats while AAP is contesting 4. They are also collaborating in Haryana.

With five phases already completed, voting has been concluded for 428 Lok Sabha seats in 25 states and union territories. After today, only one phase remains, scheduled for June 1, with the final results to be announced on June 4.
