Veteran Kannada actress Leelavathi passed away due to age-related ailments at a private hospital in Bengaluru. Her son and actor Vinod Raj confirmed the news and told PTI, 'I am now left alone. Thankfully Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar got her admitted to the hospital.' PM Narendra Modi and many other celebrities have mourned Leelavathi's death. PM Modi took to his X handle and penned a note describing her as a 'true icon of cinema' who 'graced silver screen with her versatile actinge in numerous films'. Legendary actor Leelavathi had worked in more than 600 films in many languages including Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. PM Modi's note read, 'Saddened to hear about the passing of the legendary Kannada film personality Leelavathi Ji. A true icon of cinema, she graced the silver screen with her versatile acting in numerous films. Her diverse roles and remarkable talent will always be remembered and admired.
