#PadmaBhushan For Icons: Mithun Chakraborty and Usha Uthup Shine at Ceremony


In a prestigious ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi, veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty and celebrated singer Usha Uthup were honored with the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award. The event was attended by notable figures including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Home Minister Amit Shah among other dignitaries.

Mithun Chakraborty, 73, has had a stellar career in the Indian film industry, captivating audiences since his debut in ‘Mrigayaa,’ which garnered him the National Film Award for Best Actor. His journey through Indian cinema includes blockbuster hits like ‘Disco Dancer,’ ‘Agneepath,’ and ‘Ghar Ek Mandir.’ His diverse roles have cemented his place as a beloved figure in Indian cinema.

Usha Uthup, known for her distinctive voice and style, has been a major influence in bringing jazz to mainstream Indian music. Her iconic tracks like ‘Ramba Ho,’ ‘One Two Cha Cha,’ and ‘Shaan Se’ have left an indelible mark on the music industry.

The awards ceremony highlighted their monumental contributions to Indian arts. Mithun expressed his gratitude and surprise at the recognition, stating, "I have never asked anything for myself from anyone in my life. When I got a call that you are being given Padma Bhushan, I was silent for a minute because I had not expected it."
