š®š³ Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that 40,000 ordinary coaches will be converted to Vande Bharat standards to improve the railway system across the country and provide comfortable travel to passengers. š
Ā She made this announcement while introducing the Interim Budget 2024 in the Lok Sabha on Thursday. š¢ Stating that Indian Railways is a driving force for the country's economic development, the Minister said that the railway department will be developed into three main economic corridors. š The first is the fuel, minerals and cement corridor, the second is the shipping corridor and the third is the traffic density corridor. š¢ He said that these will be identified under the Prime Minister's Gati Shakti scheme and connected through various channels. š Transport Density Corridors will improve passenger train operations and provide faster and safer rail services. š Railway department has already introduced semi-high speed trains like Vande Bharat as a part of this. š is expanding its services across the country in phases. Vande Bharat sleeper coaches will soon be made available to passengers. š Railway sources said that these will have better facilities for passengers than Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express. š
