Krishna District IG Ashok Kumar has revealed crucial details regarding the alleged presence of hidden cameras in the Gudlavalleru Engineering College hostel. During the investigation by the police, no hidden cameras were found, he confirmed. He reassured students that there is no need to panic. The IG, along with SP Gangadhar, held a press conference at the local police station on Thursday to provide updates on the case.
A thorough search of the hostel rooms was conducted with a special women's team, and no cameras were found, IG Ashok Kumar stated. They questioned 35 female students, wardens, and staff, but none reported seeing any cameras or videos. It was mentioned that the rumor about hidden cameras and videos started spreading based on someone's comment, not from any solid evidence.
The investigation was supported by the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) from Delhi and C-DAC tech experts from Pune, who examined students' phones, laptops, and other gadgets, as directed by CM Chandrababu. After a week-long investigation, it was concluded that there were no hidden cameras or video-sharing activities in the hostel.
IG Ashok Kumar stated that if anyone comes forward with concrete evidence, the investigation will continue. He also mentioned that they are probing the negative propaganda spread on social media about the Gudlavalleru College incident and will take action based on their findings.
