A feasibility study is being carried out for the construction of a 23 km long bridge over the sea. The central government plan is to build a 23 km long road and rail line connecting Dhanushkodi, Thalaimannar-Sri Lanka Palk strait while there is already Rameshwaram bridge between Sri Lanka. It has been decided to undertake this project with 40 billion rupees. It is expected that the construction of the new bridge will give a new boost to the tourism sector between the two countries. Nine years ago, discussions were held on the plan to build road and rail bridges between India and Sri Lanka. The report said that before starting the project, technical, financial and environmental aspects should be examined. India and Sri Lanka have agreed in 2022 to explore the feasibility of developing Trincomalee and Colombo ports. 🌊🚅
