Actor Akkineni Nagarjuna has voiced his disappointment over the recent demolition of his N-Convention Center in Hyderabad's Madhapur area. The convention center, located near the Hitech City, was brought down by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) amidst heavy police presence, following allegations that it was built on encroached land belonging to the Tummidikunta lake.
The HMDA Commissioner, Ranganath, ordered the demolition after determining that the convention center occupied 3 acres and 30 guntas of lake land. The action was swift, with the structure being razed to the ground within hours by large JCB machines.
Responding to the demolition, Nagarjuna expressed his sorrow, stating that the action was carried out despite existing court stay orders and ongoing legal proceedings. He emphasized that the N-Convention Center was built on private, patta land, not on any encroached tank land as alleged. Nagarjuna also clarified that in the past, a stay had been granted on notices issued against the convention center, and no fresh notice was given before the demolition.
Nagarjuna further stated that if the court had ruled against him, he would have personally taken the responsibility to demolish the structure. He also expressed concern that this incident might lead people to wrongly believe that illegal constructions were carried out. The actor confirmed that he would seek legal recourse against the demolition.
