A young entrepreneur named Akash from Chumbola village in Bidar taluk has become popular for his eco-friendly Ganesh idols made from natural materials. These idols are in high demand across Telangana and Maharashtra, as well as parts of Andhra Pradesh. Customers can order Ganesh idols in various sizes and designs, which are customized to their preferences. Akash’s business has grown significantly over the past nine years, allowing him to live comfortably on his earnings.
Akash's journey into crafting Ganesh idols began as a small initiative but has now blossomed into a lucrative business. He sells hundreds of idols each year, earning over 10 lakh rupees annually. The demand for his idols has spread far and wide, with many customers placing orders in advance.
The idols range in size from 6 inches to a towering 15 feet, with prices varying from ₹500 to ₹50,000, depending on the size and design. Akash’s idols are known for their unique touch and customization, which he attributes to understanding his customer’s preferences and continuously experimenting with new designs.
These idols are particularly popular in Hyderabad and several districts in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. Akash ensures that his Ganesh idols are affordable, which contributes to their widespread appeal. He takes pride in creating innovative designs and incorporating vibrant, attractive colors to make his idols stand out.
As Ganesh Chaturthi approaches, Akash starts preparing two months in advance. His busiest period begins in May when he meticulously crafts each idol, ensuring that every design is perfect.
This year, he has created 35 idols, including a special 12-foot tall Ganesh, and around 4,000 smaller idols for home installations. With 30 different designs available, Akash offers a wide range of choices to meet the diverse tastes of his customers.
