National Highways to Reimpose Toll Fees from June 1st 🚗💰

National Highways across India will see a hike in toll charges starting June 1st midnight. This increase, usually effective from April 1st, was postponed due to the general election code. The GMR company is set to recover the expansion costs for the Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway through the BOT method. The GMR company has established three toll plazas on the national highway: Pantangi and Korlapahad in Nalgonda district, and Chillakallu in Krishna district. The toll fees have been collected since 2012. According to NHAI rules, GMR is permitted to increase toll fees annually on April 1st, but this year, due to the election commission's directive, the hike was deferred. With the last phase of elections concluding on June 1st, the new toll rates will come into effect from midnight. High traffic is observed on the Hyderabad-Vijayawada (65) and Hyderabad-Warangal (163) national highways. The new rates at the Pantangi toll plaza in Yadadri district will increase by ₹5 for cars, jeeps, and vans for a round trip, ₹10 for small 10-tyre lorries, and ₹15 for commercial and heavy goods trucks, averaging a 5% increase in toll charges, according to NHAI officials.
