The flood situation at the Nagarjuna Sagar Reservoir continues as a massive inflow of 3,12,093 cusecs of water is reaching from upstream. Due to this, the authorities have opened 26 crest gates to release the water downstream. The reservoir's full capacity is 312 TMC, and currently, it is at 309 TMC. The maximum water level is 590 feet, while the present level is at 589.20 feet.
Out of the 26 gates, eight gates have been opened up to 10 feet, and the remaining 18 gates have been lifted up to 5 feet. Consequently, 2,63,168 cusecs of water is being released through the spillway, while 8,280 cusecs is being released to the left canal and 9,500 cusecs to the right canal. Additionally, 28,785 cusecs of water is being discharged through power generation.
