The Mollywood film industry is in turmoil following the explosive revelations from the Justice Hema Committee report. The report highlighted shocking incidents, with many actresses revealing that they were victims of casting couch practices and faced sexual harassment. Since the report was made public, several actresses have come forward to share their harrowing experiences. So far, 17 cases have been registered against various film stars, producers, and others in the industry.
Recently, a second case has been registered against actor Jayasurya under sections 354, 354A(A1)(I), and 354D of the IPC. The police registered the second FIR after recording a full statement from actress Minu Munir in Thiruvananthapuram. The case was later transferred to the Todupuzha police station for further investigation.
Following the release of the Justice Hema Committee report, cases have been filed against several Malayalam film celebrities, including CPI(M) MLA M Mukesh, Jayasurya, Siddique, Maniyanpilla Raju, and others. On Friday, yet another FIR was filed against Jayasurya, adding to the ongoing #MeToo row in Kerala's film industry.
