The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand has seen a surge of devotees, all chanting "Har Har Shambho Shankara" as they head towards Kedarnath.
Amidst this, a massive avalanche occurred behind the Kedarnath Temple early Sunday morning. The avalanche, originating from the Gandhi Sarovar mountains, was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media. According to Rudraprayag Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Vishakha Ashok Bhadane, the avalanche took place around 5 AM. Thankfully, no loss of life or property was reported. The video shows the snow cascading down the mountains at high speed, causing shock among viewers. However, the avalanche was halted by the Gandhi Sarovar, preventing it from reaching the temple area, thereby saving thousands of lives and keeping the temple intact. Disaster Management Officer Nandan Singh Rajwar stated that such avalanches are not uncommon on these mountains, especially when there is a significant snow accumulation. He assured that these avalanches do not usually cause any harm. Despite the dramatic event, the Kedarnath Temple remains safe and secure.
