ManipurFloods: Imphal Underwater, Life Comes to a Standstill 🌊

Heavy floods have ravaged the northeastern state of Manipur, bringing life to a halt in the capital, Imphal. Rivers have overflowed, flooding hundreds of homes. The havoc wreaked by Cyclone Remal has left northeastern states like Manipur, Assam, and Arunachal Pradesh struggling. In Manipur, the situation is out of control, with thousands displaced. Despite the rain subsiding, many are still taking shelter in relief camps. The Nambul and Imphal rivers are flowing above danger levels, causing severe inconvenience.

In Senapati district’s Vako village, a bridge collapse has cut off the village from the rest of the state. Floods have halted transportation in many Manipur villages. NDRF and SDRF teams are rescuing people using boats. The situation in Imphal is dire, with floodwaters entering local courts and judges' residences. Power supply is severely disrupted. The weather department has issued a high alert, warning of heavy rains for the next two days. The floods have caused significant damage in rural Manipur, with hundreds of houses collapsing and some areas reporting casualties.The central government is also on high alert and has promised all possible assistance to the state.
