KTR, the Working President of BRS, issued a public apology on Twitter after his remarks during a party meeting on Thursday sparked controversy. He clarified that his comments were not intended to hurt anyone and expressed regret if they caused any distress to women.
This incident follows a heated debate in Telangana over the free bus travel scheme for women. The war of words between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS escalated when Minister Seethakka made a comment in the Assembly, saying there was nothing wrong if women engaged in their own activities while traveling on buses. In response, KTR sarcastically remarked that no one would object if women picked ginger and garlic on the bus, even adding that they should consider assigning a bus per person for performing breakdance.
Minister Seethakka strongly condemned KTR's comments, questioning if he was asking women to perform breakdances on buses and criticized his insensitivity. The Women's Commission took serious note of the issue and initiated an inquiry into KTR's remarks. Following this, KTR issued an apology, stressing that he never intended to insult women.
