On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the people's poet and Padma Vibhushan awardee, Kaloji Narayana Rao, BRS party chief KCR (K. Chandrashekar Rao) paid his respects to the legendary figure. KCR praised Kaloji as a "literary sage" who dedicated his entire life to Telangana. He recalled that Kaloji blessed him with a full heart when he set out on the journey to achieve Telangana statehood. In honor of Kaloji's contribution, the Telangana government declared his birthday, September 9, as Telangana Language Day. KCR also mentioned the establishment of Kaloji Puraskaram, an award to honor distinguished writers who contribute to Telangana's language and literature, and the naming of the state medical university after Kaloji in Warangal.
