Jammu and Kashmir's severest winter season 'Chillai Kalan' has begun. A 40-day severe winter called āChillai Kalanā in the local language has begun in the Kashmir Valley from today (December 21).
During Chillai-Kalan the weather in this region is dry and cool. Minimum temperatures are below freezing point. However, the first day of Chillai Kalan is celebrated as āInternational Feron Dayā. On the occasion of Pheran Day in Jammu, men and women performed Pheran ceremonies near Ghanta Ghar in Lal Chowk, dressed in colorful Pheran (wool cloth) in traditional Kashmiri style. On this occasion, the statue of Prime Minister Modi was decorated in a traditional "Pheran". Visitors bustled about taking photos at the portrait of the Prime Minister. However, on this occasion, a man showed his love by kissing the portrait of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He thanked me with an affectionate hug. šš
