Karnataka Hit Hard by Dengue: Over 24,000 Cases Reported! 🦟 #DengueOutbreak

Karnataka is grappling with a severe dengue outbreak, with the virus spreading rapidly across the state, including in Bengaluru. The situation is alarming, with over 24,000 cases reported so far, causing widespread concern among the public. Official records indicate that six people have lost their lives due to the virus. 🏥

The outbreak is particularly severe in Bengaluru, where half of the total cases have been recorded. In the last 24 hours alone, 286 new cases were identified. Health officials have conducted blood tests on 52,214 individuals across the state to monitor the spread.

In response to the escalating crisis, the Karnataka government has stepped up its efforts to control the outbreak. Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has directed district officials and Panchayat CEOs to keep a close watch on dengue cases. During a virtual meeting, he urged the opening of fever clinics in areas with high positive cases and advised all officials to remain vigilant until October. 🏠

The health department is working to identify dengue hotspots and has launched awareness campaigns to educate the public about the disease. Minister Gundu Rao emphasized the need for dengue tests for those showing fever symptoms in affected areas. He announced a door-to-door awareness campaign across the state for the next two weeks. Special focus will be on districts with the highest number of cases. 🏡

Between June 28 and July 3, officials surveyed 7.66 lakh houses in Bengaluru, finding dengue larvae in 5,002 homes. Additionally, 1,473 teams in eight other zones discovered dengue larvae in 26,259 containers. Despite knowing how dengue spreads, the government is facing criticism for failing to contain the virus effectively. The situation remains dire, and efforts are ongoing to curb the outbreak.
