Bollywood's firebrand Kangana Ranaut is back in the headlines, this time for her upcoming directorial film "Emergency." Based on the life of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Kangana plays the lead role herself. The movie was initially set to release on November 24 last year but faced multiple delays due to unforeseen reasons. After several postponements, Kangana recently announced a new release date of December 6. However, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has yet to issue a certificate for the film. Reports suggest there are some objections raised regarding the movie, potentially causing further delays.
Reacting to the delay, Kangana expressed her disappointment and frustration. She stated, "Now they have imposed an 'Emergency' on my film. This is a scary situation, and I am deeply disappointed with the country." Kangana hinted that some films that focus on India's integrity and unity face unnecessary censorship hurdles, while others do not. She called this an injustice, affirming that she made "Emergency" with pride and would fight in court if the CBFC does not issue the certificate.
The film features Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan and Shreyas Talpade as former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, the movie also stars Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, and others in key roles.
