In a surprising turn of events, Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi made headlines with his critical comments about the film Kalki and its lead star Prabhas. Arshad expressed his disappointment with the film, stating that he felt sad watching Prabhas in Kalki and even went as far as to say that Prabhas looked like a "joker" in front of Amitabh Bachchan. He questioned why Prabhas would choose to be part of such a film. These remarks did not sit well with Prabhas' fans, who quickly took to social media to troll Arshad, urging him to look at the state of Bollywood before criticizing Tollywood.
In response to the controversy, Kalki director Nag Ashwin urged everyone not to dwell on such discussions, emphasizing that there should be no divide between North and South Indian cinema. He stated that their focus should be on making great films, as they are all part of a united Indian film industry. Nag Ashwin also hinted at the immense potential of Kalki 2, promising that it will prove Prabhas' greatness in the very first show. He humorously mentioned that he would send Arshad’s kids some toys, showing that he isn’t taking the criticism to heart but is determined to deliver an outstanding sequel.
The first Kalki film, starring Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani, directed by Nag Ashwin, was a massive success, grossing ₹1200 crores worldwide. With Kalki 2, Nag Ashwin is set on showcasing Prabhas in a way that will silence all critics.
