Kannada star Darshan, who has been in Parappana Agrahara Jail for nearly two months in connection with the murder case of his fan, Renuka Swamy, is reportedly receiving VIP treatment. Despite being a remand prisoner, images of Darshan enjoying coffee and cigarettes with other rowdy sheeters have surfaced, sparking outrage. A video of him engaging in a video call from the jail has further fueled the controversy.
The Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, upon learning of this situation, expressed his anger and ordered strict action against the responsible jail officials. He instructed the state's DGP to suspend the officers involved and immediately transfer Darshan and others to different jails. Additionally, he has called for a thorough investigation and a detailed report on the incident.
The state’s Home Minister, Parameshwar, has already issued orders to suspend seven jail officials involved in the scandal and has initiated an inquiry. If higher officials are found to be complicit, they too will face suspension.
