#ISROPlans70Satellites in Five Years, Says Chairman S. Somanath

ISRO Chairman Dr. S. Somanath announced that the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) plans to launch 70 satellites over the next five years. Among these missions, Chandrayaan-4 and Chandrayaan-5 are already in the design phase, awaiting government approval. Chandrayaan-4 is set to bring back samples of rocks and soil from the lunar surface, and will involve a soft landing and space docking as key components of the mission. The ambitious project is slated for launch in 2028.

Dr. Somanath made these revelations during a media interaction at an event organized by the Indian Space Association and the All India Council for Technical Education. He emphasized that after the success of Chandrayaan-3, ISRO is gearing up for several more lunar missions. Among the 70 planned satellite launches, many will be placed in low Earth orbit, with four satellites dedicated to regional navigation systems. Additionally, ten companies have shown interest in developing Small Satellite Launch Vehicles (SSLVs) under ISRO's guidance, with two SSLVs expected to be developed within the next two years.
