IPL Final Breaks 14-Year Record 🏏

The IPL 2024 concluded with a thrilling final match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. KKR triumphed for the third time, having previously won in 2012 and 2014. Unfortunately, SRH missed out on their third title.

Batting first, SRH was all out for just 113 runs in 18.3 overs. KKR easily chased down the target, finishing the match in just 10.3 overs with 8 wickets remaining. This game broke a 14-year-old IPL record, becoming the shortest playoff match in IPL history, lasting only 29 overs.

The previous record was set in a 2010 playoff match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Deccan Chargers, which lasted 32.2 overs. In that game, Deccan Chargers were bowled out for 82 runs in 18.3 overs, and RCB chased the target in 13.5 overs.

SRH's performance in the final was disappointing, with their batsmen collapsing under pressure. Captain Pat Cummins was the top scorer with just 24 runs, highlighting their struggle. In response, Venkatesh Iyer led KKR to victory with an unbeaten half-century.
