IndiaVsCanada: Rain Threat Looms Over T20 World Cup Match in Florida

The T20 World Cup 2024 league match between India and Canada in Florida is under a rain threat. Team India's practice session today was cancelled due to rain, and according to the weather department, heavy rains are expected tomorrow as well. This raises doubts about the match taking place. If the rain permits, the focus will be on Team India's playing XI, especially the opening combination.

Despite winning three consecutive matches, Team India lacks balance. The openers have failed to give a solid start. Virat Kohli, who won the Orange Cap in the IPL for scoring the most runs, has struggled in the T20 World Cup. In the three matches he played, Kohli has managed only 5 runs with an average of 1.66, causing concern for the team.

Kohli's early dismissals, while opening with captain Rohit Sharma, have put pressure on the middle-order batsmen. However, players like Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav have stepped up. Pant, in particular, has been in great form, scoring 36 and 42 runs in consecutive matches against Ireland and Pakistan, playing a crucial role in India's victories.

Suryakumar Yadav, who struggled initially, scored a half-century against the USA. Shivam Dube, who was also out of form, scored 31 runs off 35 balls against the USA. This performance might keep him ahead of Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal in the selection. Among the all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya have performed well so far.

Players who were out of form are gradually finding their rhythm. If Kohli regains his form as an opener, Team India will be even stronger. The match against Canada is less critical for India, and there might be a chance to test bench players. However, the selection board is unlikely to make changes to a team that has won three consecutive matches.
