"Indian Government Warns Chrome Users: Update Now! 🚨

Searching on Google Chrome has become a common practice for discovering unknown information. Given its widespread use, many people prefer Google Chrome as their browser of choice. However, the Indian government recently issued a warning to those using Google Chrome on computers and laptops. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN) has released a high-risk warning for desktop Google Chrome users.

In advisory CIVN 2024-0231, CERT-IN identified several bugs in Google Chrome that pose a severe threat to user security. They warned that remote attackers could execute arbitrary code on targeted systems, potentially taking remote control of computers and accessing sensitive data. Once a system is accessed remotely, harmful software could be installed, or the system could be completely shut down. Additionally, attackers accessing a computer could lead to performance issues and vulnerabilities in Chrome's web GPU due to insufficient data validation, making it possible for Chrome to be hacked. CERT-IN also warned that unauthorized code could run on systems through these vulnerabilities.

To protect your system from hackers, CERT-IN strongly advises users to update Google Chrome. Users should ensure their Chrome browser is updated to the latest version. To update Chrome, users can go to the browser menu, select the "Help" option, and then "About Google Chrome." The browser will automatically check for updates and install them. To ensure future protection, CERT-IN recommends enabling automatic updates in Google Chrome.
