India script history, become 1st Asian team to win a Test match against South Africa 🏏🇮🇳

Rohit Sharma-led India created history with a clinical 7-wicket victory in the second Test against South Africa at the Newlands in Cape Town on Thursday. India became the first-ever Asian team to win a Test match at the iconic venue. India were winless at the Newlands in their last six attempts having managed two draws and four defeats. However, a brilliant bowling performance from Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah across the two innings powered India to a historic win against the Proteas.🏏💪

Bumrah tormented the South Africa batters after the hosts resumed their second innings on Day 2 as he completed his 9th Test five-wicket haul inside the first hour of the day’s play leaving the hosts in tatters. Bumrah dismissed David Bedingham on 11 to open his account on Day 2 before running through the remainder of the South African batting line-up with the wickets of Kyle Verreynne, Marco Jansen and Keshav Maharaj to complete his fifer, his third in Tests in South Africa.

Bumrah then dismissed Lungi Ngidi on the penultimate ball of the 37th over to wrap up South Africa’s second innings on 176, restricting the hosts to a low-key lead of 78 runs. Bumrah finished with excellent figures of 6/61 in 13.5 overs and equalled Javagal Srinath’s record for most fifers by an Indin bowler in Tests in South Africa. He also went past Shane Warne in the elite list of visiting bowlers with the most wickets in Cape Town.

Bumrah’s devastating spell ensured India were in a commanding position at the start of their second innings with only 79 to chase. Their batters didn’t disappoint in the run-chase as openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Rohit got India off to a flyer. The duo batted with a fearless approach against the Proteas pacers despite the pitch offering uneven bounce and shared a 44-run opening stand to set the stage for a convincing victory for India.🏆🎉

Jaiswal and Rohit set the tone from the word go with some attacking shots as they took the attack to the South African pacers. Jaiswal was particularly fearless in his approach as he smacked six boundaries in his quickfire 28 off just 23 balls to take the game away from the hosts. Rohit remained unbeaten on 17 till the end to get India over the line comfortably as India recorded a historic victory.🏏🇮🇳
