Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam, a beloved comedian who brought immense joy to audiences with his humorous roles, left a lasting legacy in Telugu cinema. From small-budget films to big star-studded movies, he carved a niche with his distinctive comedy style. Before entering the film industry, he was a renowned dubbing artist, lending his voice to numerous commercial advertisements and agricultural programs. He eventually made his mark in TV serials and gained significant recognition with the film "Anando Brahma."

Iconic roles like the passport officer in "Okkadu," the weather reporter Gali Ganna Rao in "Varsham," and Happy Reddy alias Santosh Reddy in "Ready" endeared him to fans. His portrayal in "Alasyam Amrutham" earned him the Nandi Award for Best Comedian. Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam passed away on December 7, 2013, due to health issues.

A close bond existed between Dharmavarapu and another comedy legend, Brahmanandam. They were good friends, and Brahmanandam was deeply emotional after Dharmavarapu's death. Recalling his last conversation with Dharmavarapu, Brahmanandam shared, "I used to call him Dharmanna. Before he passed, he called me and requested, 'Don't come to see me. I'm not the same anymore. Remember me as I was.' He would stop me every day when I tried to visit him. He assured me, 'I'll recover by December, and I'll be active like before. I'll recite a poem for you. Soon, we'll all act together again.' Brahmanandam couldn't hold back his tears as he narrated this memory."
