The Indian Premier League's (IPL) 17th season has been a rough ride for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), continuing their streak of underwhelming performances. Halfway through the season, RCB has managed only a single win out of seven matches, with their star players largely to blame due to their lackluster performances. In a surprising move during their recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, several key players, who collectively cost the franchise around ₹47 crores, were left out of the playing eleven. The total expenditure for RCB this season was a whopping ₹100 crores, making the absence of such high-cost players in critical matches a baffling decision. Tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi, an ardent RCB supporter, expressed his dismay over this strategy. Star players like Cameron Green (₹17.5 crores), Alzarri Joseph (₹11.5 crores), Glenn Maxwell (₹11 crores), and Mohammed Siraj (₹7 crores) were seen sitting on the bench. Bhupathi took to Twitter to voice his frustration, suggesting that BCCI should intervene and possibly hand over the team management to new ownership to rescue RCB from their dismal situation.
