Tensions have once again escalated at Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Krishna district. On Saturday morning, several students tried to enter the college premises but were stopped by the police, who denied them entry, citing a lack of permission. This led to a heated argument between the police and student unions, resulting in several students being taken into custody by the authorities.
The situation at Gudlavalleru Engineering College has been tense since Thursday midnight when news broke out about hidden cameras being found in the girls' hostel. It is alleged that a student from Prakasam district, with the help of a hostel resident, had placed hidden cameras in the washrooms. This shocking revelation led to protests by the girl students, supported by several student unions, creating an atmosphere of unrest outside the college.
Upon receiving information about the protests, the police arrived at the scene and confiscated laptops and cell phones from the suspects. However, the Krishna district SP stated that no concrete evidence was found on the seized devices. In light of the students' continued protests, the Andhra Pradesh government has taken the matter seriously and ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident.
